Photographer Richard Avedon shot a sequence of Marilyn posing as film stars, first published in LIFE magazine on December 22, 1958. Avedon said it was easy to work with her, and Marilyn confessed years later to Simone Signoret that this particular photo session was one of the greatest moments of her career.
